Chicken Pot Pie – Ninja Foodi

I came from a large family. 9 kids and 2 adults. Cheap meals during the week was the mainstay. Our big/best meal was always on Sunday. During the week it was pot pies, TV dinners (the cheap ones), hot dogs, fish sticks, soup, etc. I hated pot pies. Still do to this day. I don’t cook them. I don’t order them in a restaurant. I don’t even want to think about them. Wouldn’t you know that I married a man that loves them! As a rule of thumb, if I don’t eat it, I don’t cook it. Sorry dear. But…. I got the new Ninja Foodi and they had a recipe for chicken pot pie so I thought I’d try it. I cooked it AND I ate it!! It was very good. I changed up the NF recipe a bit though. I used canned biscuits instead of pie crust and baked them instead of broiling them. Everything done in one pot.

Base:
2 cups Chicken stock (I used 2 cups of water and Better Than Bouillon chicken flavor)
4 chopped up cooked chicken thighs
Onions
Celery
Carrots
1/2 can peas drained
Chopped broccoli raw
Chopped cooked potatoes

Basically use whatever you like and whatever you have in the fridge, freezer or pantry – leftover rotisserie chicken, roast beef, shredded pork or even go vegetarian!

Put everything in the pot and set to pressure cook for ZERO minutes. (Takes 6 min to come to pressure then it stops and starts counting down). Quick release. Remove PC lid and set aside. Turn pot on sauté. Add a little cream and sprinkle with a corn starch to thicken. When you get it to the thickness you desire turn off.

Place biscuits on top. Brush with garlic flavored olive oil or butter and sprinkle with garlic salt and Italian seasoning.

Put Air Fryer lid down and set it to bake for 10 min at 350° and check often after 5 min so they don’t burn.

Total time:

5 min prep, 6 min pressure time, 10 min bake.

It was delicious!

  1. Good food recipe. I have found that it takes about an additional 10 minutes to get ambient temp ingredients to pressure cook time. Is that the 6 min pressure time you itemize above. Because at pressure cook time was 0 min, right.

    • Randy – Each pressure cooker is different in the amount of time it takes to come to pressure. My Foodi comes to pressure a little faster than my Instant pot. But to answer your question, yes the 6 min is the ‘come to pressure’ time. Thanks for checking out our site!!
