The cabinets and closet in our coach are all on outside walls. The heat and cold permeates the cabinets and closet in the summer/winter time. It actually melted my chocolate which is sacrilegious, right? A lady I met at a campground showed me this truck and by golly it really makes a difference! Not only does it keep the closet and cabinets much cooler/warmer it also helps keep the coach cooler/warmer thus putting less strain on the AC/heater saving you money on electricity if you happen to be parked long term. The secret? Line your cabinets and closet with Reflectix insulation. I bought the sticky back type, cut it to fit then stuck it on. What a difference it makes! I bought it at Lowe’s but you can get it at other places too such as Home Depot and Ace Hardware.
We also have the Magne Shade that covers our windshield which cuts the heat and gives you some privacy. You can see out but they can’t see in – except at night. Check out the Bells and Whistle page for more info on the Magne Shade.
This sounds like a great idea but don’t you get condensation between the back wall and the Reflex?
Not at all. The Reflectix I used was sticky backed. Holds it in place and doesn’t allow condensation to form.
This sounds like a great idea! I know some of my cabinets are really warm and this makes a lot of sense. Thanks!!
Thanks. It helps so much in the heat and the cold!
